Officials in Sacramento County are examining a violent incident that broke out on the evening of April 18 at Howe Community Park in the Arden-Arcade area just as authorities were breaking up a large unsanctioned party of several hundred people.
Background
Sacramento County law enforcement initially got calls about the Arden-Arcade park at approximately 6:30 Saturday evening after learning of individuals possibly carrying concealed weapons. Not long after, a follow-up call was made mentioning a reported physical confrontation occurring at Howe Park.
Aerial units was sent to survey the area but found nothing to substantiate the fight report. Despite this, deputies found that a crowd of several hundred had gathered without authorization without authorization.
The Moment Gunfire Erupted
Officers moved to clear the area by encircling the gathering and announcing over their public address systems telling the hundreds present to disperse at once. Around 15 minutes were spent for attendees to disperse.
At the height of the dispersal effort that between 20 and 25 rounds were fired. The shots sent hundreds fleeing. Officers immediately began looking for those injured.
Four Victims Hospitalized
In total, four individuals were discovered with shooting injuries. All four — including a female and three males all believed to be in their 20s at the time of the incident — were rushed to local Sacramento hospitals. Medical teams indicated that two victims sustained immediate click here injuries, one had moderate injuries, and one had injuries classified as minor. As of last report, each of the four victims was stable.

Crime Scene Evidence
The center of the incident seemed to have occurred on Cottage Way adjacent to the local Home Depot at the 2200 Howe Avenue block. Crime scene investigators discovered more spent casings scattered along Cottage Way. Round impacts were discovered in the wrought iron perimeter fencing bordering the Home Depot store. This evidence pointed to that at least one shooter had been aiming south from along Cottage Way toward the Home Depot store. The store itself was secured under a brief lockdown for a period of time. Crime scene technicians and detectives worked tirelessly well into the night.
Suspect Information
Reports confirmed over scanner radio traffic showed that a vehicle identified as a Kia was contacted by law enforcement in the Solano County area. Four suspects were detained. Sheriff's units were heading to pick up the four detainees to bring the suspects back for investigation. Surveillance footage made clear that two separate shooters participated in the incident.
